Description: Journeyman Smith John Parks creates an exceptional knife and this one is no exception. He hand forged 5160 carbon steel to shape, leaving rustic hammer marks along the handle. The chisel ground edge is exceptional for detailed, precision cuts such as those required for Ikebana. The blade has been hand satin finished and has a keen, right handed edge. Knotted, waxed cord provides a secure grip. Exceptional work throughout. Captivating for the eye and comfortable in the hand.
Ikebana is a Zen flower arranging style that strives for simplicity and naturalness. So as to maintain the freshness of the flowers, the stems are cut under water using this shape of knife. This technique will also work for traditional Western flower arranging. This knife is also used for a wide variety of woodworking jobs.
