Description: Mastersmith Wally Hayes built and designed this exceptional fighter. It was designed as a prototype for a knife that was going to be made in production, as noted by the 'P' to the right of Wally's makers mark.
The long (7 1/2 inch) swayback blade has tremendous presence in part created by the 1/4" spine. The blade has been clay tempered using a traditional Japanese method which allows the spine to retain the resilience inherent in the steel while allowing the edge to be hardened for superior sharpness. Four notched rows create a perfect place for the thumb to rest.
Black rayskin sits on top of kydex and is finished off with a traditional Japanese cord wrap. The multiple layers result in a strong, well rounded handle and superior grip. A bullet has been cut in half and forms a tactical 'menuki'. This tactical fighter can be kept close at hand using the Hayes Tactical Sheath by Sharon Hayes, Wally's wife. The leg sheath fits securely using two straps and includes several pockets.
Exceptional work throughout.
