Description: Explorer George Washington Sears, who was born in 1821, lived with Nipmuc Indians and learned skills of wilderness living. He is best known for his writings under the pen name of "Nessmuk", which dated from 1880 - 1890. During this time, he developed the knife pattern which would later bear his name. This pattern is believed by many woodsmen to be the perfect knife, even today. The deep belly allows it to be an excellent skinning knife, with the weight brought toward the tip.
The L6 carbon steel blade was forged to shape and has a strong differential heat treatment line resulting is a resilient spine and long lasting edge. The flats have a hammer and file finish, for a dramatic, antique appearance. Neil has decorated the flats with engraving. African blackwood scales continue the antique appearance and feel. The spine has been lightly fileworked to provide a secure thumb purchase. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
