Description: Polychromed, pyrographed and carved English boxwood with ebony and walnut furniture. On one side of the handle, a pyrographed lizard hunts for its prey -- a single fossil mammoth ivory ladybug. Ebony pegs are inlaid for each of the black dots. On the reverse, five more ladybugs are depicted, burrowed into the wood. Boxwood scales are finished off on the side with walnut. The front "bolster" is formed from ebony. The blade is pressure flaked from Nevada chalcedony. Walnut display box for a dramatic presentation.
The team of Tom Sterling and JP Higgins is a formidable force. Joe Higgins, who has been flint knapping knives for over 10 years, created the blade of this masterpiece with precision. This skill is matched in the detailed handle created by Tom Sterling, who has brought his attention to detail learned as an internationally known netsuke artist to this piece.
