Description: Mastersmith PJ Tomes was a good friend of the late Bill Williamson, renowned collector and historian of Bowie Knives. Williamson's book, "The William R. Williamson Bowie Knife Collection" is the mainstay of Bowie collectors, with its wealth of information and photographs of early Bowies. This majestic knife, which PJ Tomes calls the Forest Bowie is a replica of the cover knife from Williamson's book. Back in 1820 - 1830, Forest, a well known actor was a good friend of the Bowie brothers. It is believed that this is one of the Bowies that was gifted to him. PJ was lucky enough to handle this Bowie in Williamson's collection and has made a very accurate replica.
The long, majestic blade was forged to shape from 52100 carbon steel and will have exceptional edge retention. The smooth satin finish is meticulous. Checkered ebony scales are set on a distal tapered tang. The distal taper in both the blade and handle results in a very comfortable balance for such a large knife. The scales are set with domed pins. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
This knife was featured on page 40 of the June 2006 issue of Blade Magazine.
