Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the Damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make such large, impressive Bowies.
The massive four bar composite mosaic Damascus blade is formed from three central bars of opposing twist pattern. The edge is firecracker pattern and is forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels for exceptional edge holding. Other Damascus throughout the knife utilizes mild steel and pure nickel in addition to 15N20 and 20C. The exceptional blade leads into the large Damascus guard.
The fossil mammoth bark scales are exceptional and museum quality. Mammoth ivory with intense blue of this type is extremely rare. The predominant tones move from deep blues, to lighter tones with hints of cream. There is tremendous diversity to this exceptional ivory.
The full tang has been surrounded by stabilized and dyed masur birch. Fileworked at the top. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
