Description: Jeff Driscoll has an amazing sense of design, creating unique knives that are extremely well executed. He pulls heavily on Nordic knives, using blades from the best bladesmiths from Nordic countries. This masterpiece required over 300 hours to complete.
This knife symbolizes the life cycle. The base symbolizes birth and earth. Copper leaves come out of a madrona burl frame. The brass central weight has been engraved in a leaf pattern. The handle symbolizes life and fire. It is highly sculpted from African mopane wood. Vines have been meticulously sculpted in three dimensions. The interlocking vines are one of the most impressive pieces of carving that I have seen on a knife to date.
The blade was forged by renowned Swedish bladesmith Mattias Styrefors. The center of the multi-bar composite is mosaic Damascus forged from 15N20 and 20C carbon steels along with pure nickel. It is a pattern that he calls "Viking". The edge bars are a pool and eye pattern and are forged from 15N20 and 20C for exceptional edge holding. The blade has been heat blued to golden tones. This symbolizes death and air.
The leaf sheath symbolizes renewal and water. Leaves are sculpted to surround and protect the blade.
The knife sits securely in the base, which has been weighted at the center with brass. The stand provides a secure presentation place for this exceptional art knife.
Showing an amazing degree of craftsmanship, Jeff has created this knife to be fully dis-assemblable. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
