Description: Jim's knives are as sturdy as they are elegant. A hunter himself, as well as a backwoodsman, his knives have been heavily tested in the field over the years yet are dramatic enough for any collection.
The drop point hunter blade is forged from Jim's own Damascus. A complicated pattern reminiscent of an iron trellis is surrounded by overlapping Persian Ribbons. The effect is spectacular and one of my favorite patterns that I have seen to date. The Damascus pattern mixes bold patterns that are apparent from a distance as well as detailed figures that only become clear with a close inspection.
The guard uses matching Damascus, showing off its complex pattern on the front face. The handle is sculpted from double dyed and stabilized box elder burl. This process brings out the convoluted grain structure.
The front spacer is particularly elegant. Nickel silver surrounds sections of dyed and stabilized box elder and pre-ban ivory. The handle is finished off with a Damascus butt plate. The fit and finish is excellent. Numbered 102.
