Description: Jim's hunting knives are as sturdy as they are elegant. A hunter himself, as well as a backwoodsman, his knives have been heavily tested in the field over the years. The degree of craftsmanship and artistry makes them at home in any collection.
The blade is forged from carbon steels into a mosaic Damascus pattern. Fine linear bars of steel travel across the blade in a bold loop. In the background a detailed radial latticework reveals itself with closer inspection. The results is a pattern that is both fascinating from a distance and captivating up close. By combining 1084 and L6 carbon steels, Jim assures that this blade will have exceptional edge retention.
The spalted maple handle has been stabilized, making a reliable and sturdy handle even under the difficult conditions of the outdoors. Dark spalting lines move across the bright maple background for one of the most dramatic pieces of wood that I have seen. An elaborate spacer created from fossil walrus ivory separated by nickel lines sits behind the Damascus guard. Both the guard and butt cap are forged from Damascus matching the blade. The fit and finish is excellent. The blade has been tapered for a perfect balance in the hand. Numbered C101.
