Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the Damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic.
The three bar composite mosaic Damascus blade is formed from a central twist pattern Damascus bar, surrounded by a firecracker pattern edge and spine. The firecracker edge is forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels for exceptional edge holding. Other Damascus throughout the knife utilizes mild steel and pure nickel in addition to 15N20 and 20C.
The exceptional blade leads into the Damascus guard. Fileworked copper spacers bring out warm tones in the fossil mammoth ivory. A Damascus butt finishes off the handle. The fossil mammoth bark scales are predominantly cream toned with chocolate and blue veins. The tang is encased in wood burl. The long guard brings the weight back into the hand for a secure, reassuring hand-hold. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
