Description: The axe, inherited from the Frank's wars with the Romans, remained an ever-present Viking weapon demonstrating the Scandinavian genius for evolving specialized weaponry. The head design of the Short Beaded Axe provided a concentration of power behind a relatively short cutting edge, ideal for punching through any armor of the period in close combat.
Raymond Richard's Bearded Belt Axe follows the Viking design capable of cleaving helms or armor with impunity. The head was forged to shape from 1084 carbon steel and has been antiqued. Buckskin wraps around an oak haft for a sure grip and an easy swing. The haft measures 20" in length. The head is 6 1/8" long and has a cutting edge of 3 1/3". Excellent work throughout.
