Description: Al Dippold is undoubtedly one of the great masters of mosaic Damascus and of folding knives, as shown clearly in this sculpted folder.
The blade is forged from many carbon steels, each chosen for their different coloring when forged into Damascus. Because he has chosen not to use pure nickel in the mix, the resulting edge will have excellent edge holding. The mosaic pattern has been accordianed and contains mixed detailed patterns and images including various insects caught in the spider's web. An opal rests in the fileworked thumb stud and provides easy opening of the blade.
The handle scales are sculpted from Al's "Spiderweb" pattern mosaic Damascus steel. Lines of 15N20 carbon steel cross a 1084 carbon steel background. The handle has been sculpted and holds a blacklip mother of pearl window frame.
The 15N20 liners have been differentially heat colored and surround the sculpted twist pattern Damascus steel backbar. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
