Description: When Scott Slobodian began traveling to the Milan knife show a number of years back, he was greatly inspired by the European dagger. While his work continues to have a strong Japanese focus, he began making pieces derived from this new found interest.
The Bacchus Dagger is in the style of a Bronze Roman Puggio. The entire piece has been cast using the last wax technique and is one-of-a-kind, as the mold is destroyed in the process of creation. Merlin's Gold is an alloy consisting of copper and zinc. It simulates a medium gold in color and develops a dramatic patina which evokes an ancient feeling. The handle has tremendous detail, and has wheat detailing. A Bacchus head is carved onto both sides of the handle. A moonstone has been set in the pommel. The dagger is displayed in a spalted maple presentation box with Merlin's gold fittings and a moonstone ornament. Accompanied by certificate from the maker. Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
