Description: Chuck Burrows writes: "My partner Gib Guignard sent me this knife. When I opened up the package and saw that scimitar shaped blade and oversized forged guard, I immediately though of Mike Fink -- the legendary keel boatman. Reportedly, Mike was the inspiration form the term "half horse, half alligator." Davy Crocket is supposed to have first called Mike that and the term eventually came to be used to describe all of the rough and ready breed -- The keel boatmen of the Mississippi, Ohio, and Missouri rivers. This knife and sheath are in keeping with that larger than life image.
"The inspiration for the sheath is that of a white man's veg-tan sheath with a swivel belt loop that’s seen a lot of wear and tear and was in need of repair. The repair/decoration is in the Upper Missouri Indian style of the early 1820s -- painted rawhide and brass tacks with a partially beaded brain tan buckskin throat wrap with a pewter cross. This is finished off with tin cones, copper beads, and horsehair dangles."
The team of Chuck Burrows and Gib Guignard has created a truly timeless masterpiece!
