Description: Mastersmith Heather Harvey was heavily influenced by her native land of South Africa when creating this dramatic dagger. The random pattern Damascus blade has been heavily etched for a very deep pattern. The etching solution was infused with copper, so as to create a copper sheen to the blade. This melds well with the copper fittings used throughout the knife.
The handle, textured and carved from African blackwood features fittings made of copper and iron. Twisted copper and iron wire creates a secure and decorative hand hold. The pommel is inlaid with two coins: a southern Rhodesian "tickey", and a coin from Botswana.
The sheath matches the African feel of the blade and is formed from a hollowed gemsbok horn. At the top, heather has secured a hammered and antiqued copper piece, to secure the blade. At the base, hammered copper holds a 1964 Rhodesian coin.
Excellent fit and finish and a very unique dagger.
