Description: The five journeyman smith test knives stand among the most collectible knives of a maker's career. These knives are the height of the maker's work at that time and are an incredible effort by the maker to create a knife that is beyond the level that they have previously been able to accomplish. These knives are judged by ABS Mastersmiths for their skill and artistry. With this Moran Style Bowie, Bill Burke became a journeyman smith in June of 2003.
The large Bowie knife blade is forged from 52100 carbon steel, the steel that has made Bill famous for high performance. The heat treat follows the formulas developed by Ed Fowler, Bill's teacher. The long clip is brought to a true edge toward the point. The oval guard features a twisted rope pattern filework in nickel silver. The sculpted curly maple handle has been inlaid with fine silver. Excellent fit and finish throughout.
