Description: Lonnie's Tomahawk Hammer is very traditional in style. The synthetic sinew gives an excellent grip for using the hammer. The pewter accents were poured directly into wood and then hammer finished. At the base of the haft, Lonnie has formed a shamrock. The curly maple handle has excellent chatoyancy similar to a tiger's eye gem stone. The head, which is smaller than typical for Lonnie, has a tremendous sense of grace. It is forged from 52100 carbon steel with a patina finish (my favorite of the carbon steels for edge retention). Sculpted accents on the head finish this piece to perfection. The head length is 7 3/4" and the cutting edge is 2 1/2". This piece is very sturdy and well weighted for chopping as well as hammering.
