Description: Coming back from the Blade show with journeyman smith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. Five knives are made by each applicant that are the height of their work. These knives were judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. The standards are exacting. This coffin handled bowie was one of the five knives that John selected as the best of his work for judging by the masters.
The blade has a differential heat treatment and a hand rubbed satin finish. The distinctive heat treatment line assures blade that will keep its edge and a spine to support it. The clip has been brought to a sharpened edge. The mild steel guard has been nitre blued to a deep blue with hints of purple. This coloration is continued on the full tang. Stellar sea cow rib bone sits on the full tang and is attached with six nickel silver pins. Exceptional fit and finish.
