Description: The team of Tom Sterling and JP Higgins is a formidable force. Joe Higgins, who has been flint knapping knives for over 10 years, created the blade of this masterpiece with precision. This skill is matched in the detailed handle created by Tom Sterling, who has brought his attention to detail learned as an internationally known netsuke artist to this piece.
Fossil mammoth ivory (20,000 - 40,000 years old), desert ironwood, and boxwood have been carved in Japanese netsuke style as a highly detailed and life like tree frog. The eyes have been double inlaid using boxwood and horn for a very realistic appearance. The blade is finely pressure flaked (oblique style) from high quality heat-treated Brazilian agate and is attached to the handle using green silk wrapping.
