Description: This is Barry Gallagher's first knife to use his new found skills of gold wire inlay, and the effect is spectacular. We have seen Shane Taylor and Rick Dunkerley begin using gold inlay in their work this year. As has happened before, the Montana Mafia all decided to learn a new task together. In part through the tutelage of Rick Eaton, these three makers have quickly developed this skill set and added an entirely new dimension to their work.
The laddered Ws pattern Blade has been mirror polished and heat blued, revealing brilliant blues and silvers. The bolsters are formed from Blue Leopard pattern Damascus, one of my favorites of Barry's patterns. The organic patterns are three distinct colors, with a deep blue, deep purple, and silver highlights created by the pure nickel. Gold inlay on both bolsters forms a frame. The bolsters are dovetailed to the carved whitelip mother of pearl bolsters for a perfect fit. The 1084 carbon steel backbar has been blued and0 inlaid with 24k gold, both inside and out. 15N20 carbon steel liners have been heat blued to a golden color and textured. The screws have been heat blued and fileworked.
Excellent fit and finish with the silkiest action found anywhere.
