Description: This Native American styled neck knife is the sort of work that has made Daniel Winkler and Karen Shook household words in re-enactment circles throughout the world. Their knives have an authenticity rarely found in other maker's work. The spine has been fileworked for a secure thumb grip. Both the blade and tang have been distal tapered for a great feel in the hand. The bolsters are dovetailed for an excellent fit to the elk antler. Black spacer material allows for temperature and humidity change. Knives of this sort were historically often made from early files. The Nickelson file used to create this knife was made from 1095 carbon steel. Daniel has left a remnant of the file's original texture at the ricasso.
