Description: Coming back from the Blade Show with journeyman smith test knives is one of my great highlights of the year. Five knives are made by each applicant that are the height of their work at the time. These knives are judged by ABS Mastersmiths on fit and finish, as well as general artistry. Each must be forged to shape from carbon steel. The standards are exacting. With this chef's knife, Reggie Barker gained the ranks of ABS Journeyman Smith at the 2002 Blade Show.
As you would expect, the fit and finish is excellent. The blade and tang have a distal taper for excellent balance, making this chef's knife quickly feel to be an extension of your hand. The blade has been flat ground for easy chopping and great edge retention.
