Description: Dennis "Woody" Woodcock was a full time knifemaker working in the village of Nehalem, Oregon only minutes away from the Neahkahnie Mountain. Shortly after reading Bob Loveless' book "How to Make Knives" and after retiring from the Air Force in 1980, he began taking knifemaking as a serious venture. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It is in brand new condition and by all appearances, it could have been made yesterday!
The drop point blade is ATS-34 stainless steel with a polished finish. ATS-34 is high in carbon and chromium giving excellent chip resistant, edge holding, and corrosion resistance. The spine is fileworked by hand in a vine pattern to provide a comfortable thumb purchase.
Handle scales are koa (acacia koa) wood, set on a full tang using brass pins. This durable stabilized wood is only found on the Hawaiian islands and is one of the most desired woods used in knifemaking. Both the blade and tang are distal tapered providing exceptional balance in hand.
To keep the knife close at hand, a pouch style leather sheath is included.
Nice work throughout!
