Description: Josh Osborne of Rogue Forge is a bladesmith and blacksmith working out of Central Point, Oregon. He has been a full time blacksmith since 2018. In May of 2021 he made the trasition to becoming a full time bladesmith. He is currently working on becoming a Journeymansmith with the American Blade Society. We are excited to offer this new local maker to our gallery!
The blade on this massive camp knife is hand forged 5160 carbon steel. 5160 is known for its ability to maintain excellent edge holding coupled with excellent durability and chip resistance. The flats are forge finished and the grinds are satin finished. Because the blade was forged closely to shape, Josh ensures optimal grain structure in his knives. Josh's touchmark is on the left side of the blade.
Handle scales combine bocote and African blackwood. They are set on the full tang for strength and durability. Josh hand fileworked the tang of the knife and filled the gaps with black epoxy. This provides the elegance of filework without the hassle of cleaning. Red fiber liners help the natural wood adjust to humidity and temperature changes.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather custom sheath made by Josh's wife at Tap Roots Leather is included.
Excellent work throughout!
