Description: Dale Miller has been making knives since 2015, after many years of working in wood, building musical instruments, speakers, hand planes, and other pieces. He uses knives in the kitchen, regularly making charcuterie and tsukemono (Japanese pickles) and uses this experience to inform his knife design and execution. His mission is to make functional, beautiful knives out of the best available materials. Lately he has been making high quality slipjoint and linerlock folders as well as flippers. This flipper really shows Dale's skills as an up-and-coming maker!
The blade is well centered and has silky-smooth, drop-shut action with no blade play. The blade runs on Delrin caged ceramic ball bearings. The knife can be easily deployed using the ambidextrous flipper tab. Jimping on the flipper tab makes it particularly easy to open.
The wharnecliff blade is forged from Dale's own feather pattern damascus forged from 1080 and 15N20 carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is extremelly engaging and will have you staring at the blade for hours. The blade is flat ground and razor sharp. Because the blade is forged from carbon steel we recommend using camelia oil to protect the knife from rust.
Handle scales are contoured from ancient mammoth ivory. The presentation grade ivory chosen is spectacular, showing off lots of extremely rare green and blue tones. This ivory is taken from the exterior of the mammoth tusk. These colors are introduced by minerals in the soil where the ivory was buried for thousands of years. The scales are heirloom fit to matching feather pattern damascus bolsters. Titanium liners are vine fileworked and anodized blue on the flats, and gold in the bevels. The backbar and pocket clip are 416 stainless steel with a black oxide finish. The 3D machined pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
