Description: Bill Moran is considered a legend among the knifemaking community and even considered the "father of modern damascus". He is credited for single-handedly reviving the lost art of forging damascus that has captivated knife enthusiasts and collectors worldwide! Bill founded the American Bladesmith Society in 1976 and the American Bladesmith School in 1988, to continue teaching the craft of world class knifemaking. There are few knives that are more collectable than an original Bill Moran knife and we were excited to get one of his extremely rare upswept skinning knives. This knife was kept in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and has never been used. It is in great condition despite being over 50 years old with just a few hard-to-see sheath marks on the blade.
This handmade one-of-a-kind skinning knife was made by Mastersmith Bill Moran. His skinning knives were some of the most requested knives from his collectors. The blade is hand forged from carbon steel and features a satin finish. Bill's Lime Kiln, MD touchmark is featured on the left side of the blade.
The handle is contoured rosewood secured to the tang using brass pins. The handle fills your hand and provides a comfortable grip.
To keep the knife close at hand, a tooled leather custom sheath is included.
This is an extremely rare knife that can easily be at the center of any serious knife collection. It is rare to find a Moran in such exceptional condition.
