Description: Swedish knifemaker Greger Forselius has a sense of design rarely found elsewhere. This highly detailed Swedish Hunter brings together Greger's artistic and design sensibilities with flawless results.
The blade is feather pattern damascus forged from carbon steels to ensure excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is immedietly captivating and will have you staring at the blade for hours. The blade is Scandi ground and razor sharp.
The handle combined stacked sections of Arizona desert ironwood and Steller's sea cow bone. Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is extremely dense and durable. In fact it is so dense, that if a piece is dropped in water it will sink! Steller's sea cow (Hydrodamalis gigas) is an extinct, large sirenian mammal formerly found near the Asiatic coast of the Bering Sea. It was discovered in the Commander Islands in 1741 by the German naturalist Georg Steller, who was traveling with the explorer Vitus Bering. Through an unfortunate combination of being slow, large, and very good tasting, by 1768, less than 30 years after it had been discovered, Steller's sea cow was extinct. Spacers set between the natural materials will help them adjust to humidity and temperature changes. The stacked and sculpted handle is extremely comfortable in hand.
To keep the knife close, a traditional single seam leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
