Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus and sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic.
The 9.1 inch damascus blade is forged from Micke's own multi-bar damascus. The top three bars are alternating twist damascus followed by a bar of nickel and a firecracker pattern edge bar. The detailed damascus will have you staring at the blade for hours! The blade is convex ground and razor sharp. Micke's touchmark is on the right side of the ricasso. Because the blade is forged from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil to oil the blade and natural wood handle.
The handle is premium Arizona desert ironwood burl. Desert ironwood (Olneya tesota) is a rare wood that is only found in the valleys of the Sonoran Desert below 2,500 foot elevation. It is extremely dense and durable. In fact it is so dense, that if a piece is dropped in water it will sink! A steampunk engraved sterling silver ferrule is fit over the ironwood handle. A fluted damascus oval guard finishes the handle.
To keep the knife close at hand, a hand tooled leather custom sheath with wood core made by Micke is included.
Excellent work throughout!
