Description: Mastersmith Kevin Harvey is well known for his tremendous attention to detail -- only matched by his skill at design. This large historically-inspired Khukri is a dramatic example of his work. The Khukri is the traditional knife of Nepal and was made famous by the renowned Ghurka regiments in the 2nd World War. Regretfully, few of Harvey's knives make it to the US these days. This massive Khukuri showcases his talent as a knifemaker.
The massive 12-1/4 inch blade is hand forged 5160 carbon steel with a dark antiqued finish. Two sweeping fullers lighten the blade dramatically and show Kevin's incredible skill at the grinder. The large recurve makes this knife excell at chopping tasks. Kevin's touchmark and M.S. mark is on the left side of the blade.
The handle is stabilized walnut burl, heavily sculpted to provide excellent grip. The sculpted "ring" in the handle fits nicely in your palm and prevents your hand from sliding forward while swinging the blade. The antiqued stacked brass bolster features a central rope fileworked spacer. The tang reaches all the way to the brass butt cap for extra strength. This is a knife you won't want to put down!
To keep the knife close at hand, a sheath made by Kevin is included. The sheath is leather wrapped over beechwood ensuring an excellent fit.
Tremendous work throughout!
