Description: This exceptional back lock folder was made by Jack Busfield. Jack is from Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina and sold his first knife in 1979. He was a longtime member of the Knifemakers Guild. In the 1980s and 1990s, Jack's knives were the reference standard for interframe folders. Jack has retired from making knives. The inside of the backbar is marked 03/01. This knife was in a private collection since it was made. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearances, it could have ben made yesterday.
Busfield started with deceivingly simple lines and worked them to perfection. The spearpoint blade is Mike Norris stainless damascus. The flat grind nicely shows off the damascus' inherent pattern. A nail nick at the left of the blade makes it easy to open.
The handle is 416 stainless steel and was engraved by Ray Cover. Intertwined scroll engraving interlaces with 24kt gold inlay and surrounds exhibition grade blacklip mother of pearl inlays.
The blade is well centered and has smooth, consistent action. Exceptional work throughout.
