Description: Stephane Espi is a knifemaker from the South of France who has been making custom knives since 2009. He specializes in folders with excellent fit and finish and impeccable action. It is rare to see his work in the United States and we are excited to be able to offer it at BladeGallery.
This folder is inspired by a traditional Japanese tradesman's folder called a higonokami. Like the higonokami, the extended tang is used to open the blade, but it also acts as a lock to avoid the blade accidentally closing when in use.
The reverse tanto blade is san mai construction with a VG-10 stainless steel core. VG-10 is forged by Takefu Special Steel in Japan and provides excellent edge holding and chip resistance while maintaining high corrosion resistance. The spine features a textured finish while the grinds feature a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. Stephane's mark is on the tang of the blade.
Handle scales are bead blasted titanium with a fuller ground into both sides. A black G-10 backbar keeps the knife light and strong. An external torx pivot allows the blade's action to be adjusted.
Excellent work throughout!
