Description: The history of the Marble Company predates 1900 and is often considered the most influential hunting knife company in the United States. Marble almost singlehandedly turned the hunting knife into a must-have piece of outdoor gear for the well-turned-out sportsman. This started in 1899 with the Ideal model, which was available in a variety of blade lengths from 4 to 8 inches. Early versions of this famous knife are some of the most collectible knives found anywhere!
The stamp on the ricasso of the knife dates this Marble knife to being made before 1911 -- and most likely in 1900. Marbles with the MSA mark are the earliest made Marble's knives and considered the most collectible. The carbon steel blade has some patina and marks, but is in excellent condition for its age.
The stacked leather handle shows minimal wear, but is in excellent condition with no loose fittings. The pommel is stag which is among the most desirable of the handle options.
The sheath appears to be original to the knife and is in excellent shape for its age. This is an excellent condition example of one of America's earliest and most collectible hunting knives!
