Description: Dale Miller's attention to detail shines through this elegant, slim profile gent's folder. The slip joint design, premium MagnaCut stainless steel blade, and deer antler scales make this a tremendous old school folder with modern performance.
A flush-end slip joint has the end of the spring, end of the tang, and the bolsters all flush when the blade is closed. This is an advanced technique and adds complexity to the final fit-up of the spring and blade in all three blade positions.
The 3.7 inch blade is hand ground MagnaCut. This premium stainless steel was designed by Larrin Thomas. It has the phenomenal qualities of super steels with high toughness (even at high hardness), high wear resistance, and high corrosion resistance. The high wear resistance, coupled with a Rockwell hardness of 64, provides unparalleled edge retention, still at a toughness that will prevent micro-chipping of the edge.
The blade has nice action and pivots on aluminum bronze bushings. The high performing blade is thin for precise cuts. This also results in a folder that virtually disappears in your pocket.
Gently rounded handle scales are natural European red stag. This is top-shelf stag, which Miller cut from the flat sections of a brow tine to maximize exterior bank on the finished scales. Both the bolsters and liners are 410 stainless steel. The spring is AEB-L stainless steel, hardened to Hrc 48-52. Liner pins are stainless. Center and butt pins are bronze. All pins were hand domed with a ball peen hammer.
Nice work throughout.
