Description: This very rare Hunting Cheetah was made by renowned Northwest knifemaker Rod Chappel and completed July 25th, 2002. It has been in a private collection and has been well cared for. It has never been used and is in virtually new condition. The knife has been kept in a wood presentation box with a glass top. Rod Chappel is an Alaskan Native American knifemaker and created knives of tremendous distinction. This knife was ground by Rod's son, Roderick Anthony Chappel just before his untimely death (on July 25th, 2001) and was finished by his father one year later.
The 7 inch blade features a boot grind. The sweeping lines and mirror polish show off tremendous skill at the grinder. The left side of the blade is inscribed "July 25th, 2002 / Anacortes, Washington/ Blade ground by Roderick Anthony Chappel // SS-440c". The right side is marked "Roderick Caribou Chappel …. / Hunting Cheetah / Ser No. 300".
The handle continues the grind lines that made Chappel famous. The highly contoured handle feels great! It was carved from a large section of walrus ivory with spacers formed from polished stainless steel and aluminum along with black and red Micarta.
The knife is accompanied by the padded wood and glass presentation box with identification plaques. Also included is a photograph of Chappel and his son, taken in their knifemaking workshop.
Excellent work throughout from one of the great makers in the custom knife industry!
