Description: Australian bladesmith Jason Heinemann clearly has an eye for the small details and is tremendously skilled in the forge. Jason began taking his bladesmithing career to the next level after taking classes at Australian bladesmithing school Tharwa Valley Forge in 2018 where he learned to create and refine complex damascus patterns. He currently prefers to make one-of-a-kind art knives with a focus on bowie knives, fighters, and daggers. This dagger is an impressive display of craftsmanship and could easily be the centerpiece of any collection! This knife was even featured in the lates French Knfie Magazine 'La Passion Des Couteaux'.
The massive 13-1/4 inch blade is hand forged from Jason's own mosaic damascus, combining 1084 and 15n20 carbon steels. The mosaic steel is stunning and immediately captivating. It features a symmetrical grind with a fuller (blood groove) in the center of the blade. Daggers are among the hardest knives to grind -- any flaw in symmetry becomes immediately noticeable.
The handle's central column is fluted African blackwood (Dalbergia melanoxylon). African Blackwood is among the most dense, durable woods available in the world and is highly prized for its jet black appearance. The dramatic wood was meticulously hand fluted and set with twisted fine silver wire. Showing tremendous attention to detail, the pommel can be twisted to fully disassemble the dagger if cleaning, maintenance, or repair is ever needed. The pommel, quillion guard, and spacer all feature hand engraving by Marcello Pedini. The engraved eagle is inlaid with 24K gold for a dramatic presentation.
To keep this impressive dagger close at hand, a hand stitched and tooled leather sheath is included.
Excellent work throughout!
