Description: I was tremendously pleased to meet bladesmith Dave Skinner at the 2019 Guild Show of Southern Africa. Dave brings a refined eye and tremendous skill at the forge to his knives. Over the last few years, his work has continued to develop a level of refinement that is found in very few knifemakers.
The blade was forged from Dave's own heartbeat damascus, combining O1 carbon steel and nickel for high contrast and excellent toughness. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain cutting edge. Dave's touchmark is on the left side of the blade. Because the knife is forged from carbon steel we recommend using camellia oil to advoid rust and oxidation.
The handle is sculpted from a beautiful red toned amboyna burl secured to the tang using hand domed pins. The swirling figure complements the damascus blade well. The guard and sub-hilt are antiqued brass. The handle is extremely comfortable and offers an excellent non-slip grip.
To keep the knife close at hand, a leather custom sheath made by Felicity McNamara is included. The sheath features a textured surface, beautiful hand tooling, and a retention snap for extra security.
Excellent work throughout!
