Description: Growing up in a house where everybody had creative hobbies, John has always enjoyed making things with his hands. A part time knifemaker and retired architect, John Arnold finds both joy and satisfaction in designing and constructing well balanced, well proportioned and beautiful knives. The blade is perfectly centered with silky smooth action. The discreet, ambidextrous front flipper toggle provides easy one hand opening with either index finger or thumb. The blade uses the IKBS (Ikoma Korth Bearing System) pivot system. This mechanism, which was originally designed to fit balisong knives, uses ball bearings to create exceptional action with no blade play.
The blade is hand ground M390 stainless steel. M390 is a super-steel created by Bohler in Austria. It takes an incredibly sharp edge and holds onto it due to a high concentration of vanadium and chromium carbides. Its unique powder metallurgical process also promotes a uniform carbide distribution and clean steel properties, making M390 a popular steel used in surgical cutting instruments and in applications requiring a high finish. It offers excellent corrosion resistance due to its high concentration of chromium. It is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge.
Handle scales are natural canvas Micarta inlaid with stabilized poplar burl wood inlays. The inlay is perfectly performed, with the joints between the two materials virtually invisible. The results are stunning! Bronze anodized titanium liners are jewel polished on the interior. A pierced, anodized titanium pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
