Description: Swedish bladesmith Michael Andersson is a force to be reckoned with. Unlike many Nordic knifemakers, Michael believes very strongly in sole authorship, from forging the blade to shape, to creating the damascus, to sewing the sheath. His style is immediately identifiable and is very dramatic. Micke is one of the few Swedish makers to make large, impressive Bowies.
The 10.9 inch long blade was forged to shape Micke's own damascus. He combined three bars of twist pattern damascus, a linear nickel stripe damascus, and a firecracker pattern edge. The damascus was forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels for exceptional edge holding.
A stainless habaki (blade guard) separates the blade from the handle and protects the blade from being scuffed while in the sheath. The guard, ferrule, and clamshell are all forged from Micke's twist pattern damascus. Mammoth ivory scales are separated by a thin tapered burl spacer. Green tones in the ancient ivory are particularly rare and desirable. The handle is finished with a twist pattern mosaic damascus pommel.
This bowie is accompanied by a single seam custom leather sheath with damascus fittings.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout.
