Description: Journeyman Smith Luiz Gustavo Gonçalves is among the greatest Brazilian bladesmiths alive today. He is a protégé of Eduardo Berardo. His work, which has won numerous awards, clearly speaks for itself.
This integral hunter was hand forged from L Gustavo's own Turkish Twist damascus. Many bars of opposing twist pattern damascus were combined to create this dramatic pattern. Gustavo's maker's mark and JS are inlaid in 24k gold into the left side of the blade. The damascus pattern moves seamlessly into the integral damascus bolster. Creating integral knives takes a particularly talented bladesmith and L Gustavo is clearly up to the task. The bolsters are inlaid, overlaid, and engraved with gold maple leaves and branches.
Ancient woolly mammoth ivory handle scales are heirloom fit to the distal tapered full tang. They are set with hand domed gold pins. The handle is beautifully rounded for a secure, comfortable grip.
This is a truly majestic hunter and is sure to be the highlight of most any collection.
