Description: Neels van den Berg was honored to become Africa's third mastersmith in June 2022. He is a powerhouse and creates some of the most dramatic forged knives coming out of South Africa. Visiting Neels' workshop on visits to South Africa is always a treat. His forge is pretty much in the middle of nowhere -- or at least if you kept driving down the road, that is clearly where it would end. The twisting road travels through beautiful veldt populated by zebra and other wild animals. Neels is well known for his daggers, spike hawks, and highly refined art knives.
This Damascus Stiletto shows his skills at their best. It was inspired by 17th century Italian and French stilettos. The triangular blade was forged to shape from Neel's twist pattern damascus, combining 1075 and 70Ni8 carbon steels. Each side is flat ground.
The handle is stabilized and triple dyed maple burl, beautifully contoured. It meets with an antiqued bronze quillion guard and pommel. The stiletto is lightweight and comfortable to hold.
This is a classy and unique piece that is sure to be a centerpiece in your collection!
