Description: Dale Miller has been making knives since 2015 after many years of working in wood, building musical instruments, speakers, hand planes, and other pieces. He uses knives in the kitchen, regularly making charcuterie and tsukemono (Japanese pickles) and uses this experience to inform his knife design and execution. His mission is to make functional, beautiful knives out of the best available materials. Lately he has been making high quality slipjoint folders. His knives are thin profiled, and very easy to carry. This Radial Damascus Flush End Slipjoint may just be his best slipjoint so far!
The radial damascus clip point blade is forged from 1080 and 15n20 carbon steels to provide excellent edge holding and chip resistance. The high contrast pattern is immediately captivating and draws the eye for further examination. The blade has smooth action with a firm half-stop. The nail nick on the left side of the blade is easy to use.
Handle scales are mammoth ivory. The ivory incorporates caramel, coffee, and cream tones with just a little bit of rare blue tones as well. The scales are nicely fit to fluted stainless steel bolsters. The liners were fileworked by hand. Because this knife is made from carbon steels, we recommend using camellia oil on the blade and ivory scales.
The flush end means that the end of the tang, spring, and bolsters are all flush at the end of the knife. This adds an elegance to the appearance as compared to the more common design where the bolster extends beyond the ends of the tang and spring. This is an advanced technique and not seen on production knives.
At only 2.6 ounces, this knife is extremely lightweight and easy to carry!
Excellent work throughout!
