Description: This exceptional damascus hunting knife was made by Ohio bladesmith Justin Chenault. Justin started making knives in 2005. Chenault's first foray into smithing was in a high school class where he was tasked with forging a hatchet for camping. After graduating high school Justin assembled the basics of his own blacksmith's shop. He quickly joined the Southern Ohio Forge Associate (SOFA) which helped him connect with other smiths. Justin is a journeyman smith with the American Bladesmith Society. He won Season 7, Episode 6 of Forged in Fire, proving his skills on national television.
The broad, spearpoint blade was forged to shape from Justin's own damascus. By combining 1095 and 15N20 carbon steels, Justin ensures a keen, long lasting edge. The blade features a high performance, high flat grind. His maker's mark is on the left ricasso.
The handle is stabilized amboyna burl. This presentation grade wood has a tremendous, swirling figure with a pleasing warm tone. An antiqued bronze guard makes a perfect transition between handle and blade.
This damascus hunter is accompanied by a hand stitched pouch style leather sheath.
Exceptional work throughout!
