Description: Conny Persson's knives are an inspiration to knifemakers and collectors. His influence in easily seen in many of the other Nordic makers. Regrettably, for many years, very little of his work gets to the US. This exceptional Swedish Bowie has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and by all appearances, Persson could have made it yesterday.
This is a massive Swedish Bowie, with a blade measuring 13.9 inches! The five bar composite mosaic damascus blade has excellent contrast and very complex patterns. It show's Conny's skill at its best. The edge and spine bars are firecracker pattern, matched against twist pattern. The edge and spine bars are forged from Uddeholm 15N20 and 20C carbon steels, ensuring the best possible edge. The central bar of mosaic damascus is forged using carbon steels and pure nickel, creating particularly high contrast. The central bar is Conny's Devil Damascus pattern. He created this pattern back in 2001 or so. At the time, it was one of the most complex mosaic damascus patterns ever created. Unlike modern mosaic damascus, it was created without the use of powdered metals (especially difficult). In fact, Conny won Best Damascus at Blade Show 2002 with a bowie made with the same mosaic damascus billet. Very few knives were creating with this damascus due to its incredible complexity.
The dramatic handle is ancient walrus ivory. It is hand carved and shows exceptional beauty. The guard and pommel are matching mosaic damascus.
The knife is accompanied by a hand sewn custom leather sheath.
Exceptional fit and finish throughout from one of the great Nordic knifemakers.
