Description: Allen Elishewitz is well known throughout the knife industry for producing high quality custom folders. An ex-recon marine and martial arts expert, it's no surprise Allen has created many award-winning blades that have been featured in countless magazines. He became a member of the American Knifemakers Guild in 1994, and was the youngest Guild Member at that time. He's been making high quality knives since 1988 and has been refining his work for over 30 years!
The Black Dolphin Flipper by Allen Elishewitz is a fierce looking everyday carry knife. The compound ground, reverse tanto blade is formed from CTS-204P with an acidwash finish. The unique combination of wear resistance, toughness, polishability, and corrosion resistance makes CTS 204P stainless steel an excellent candidate for high-performance industrial and custom knives. The excellent wear resistance of the alloy is provided by hard vanadium-rich carbides, while the alloy's outstanding corrosion resistance is obtained as a result of the chromium-rich matrix. The application of Carpenter's Micro-Melt PM processing creates a segregation-free and homogeneously fine carbide and grain size distribution. The use of molten metal filtration results in improved cleanliness and toughness compared to conventionally processed material. An acidwash finish gives the blade a worn in appearance. Allen's maker mark is inlaid into the flipper tab.
The blade is perfectly centered and has silky smooth action thanks to the ball bearing pivot. Elishewitz's Tetra lock functions similarly to a standard button lock. Compress the button and the lock disengages effortlessly. The Tetra lock blends in with the design flawlessly both when the blade is open and closed.
Handle scales are made from chatoyant carbon fiber. This rare carbon fiber has an exquisite, almost 3D-appearing sea of metallic waves that move when light hits it. The scales are fit perfectly to heat colored zirconium bolsters. Titanium liners are textured and anodized a deep blue. Scale screws are fileworked into gears and anodized blue to match the liners. The 3D machined pocket clip is mounted for right-side, tip-up carry.
Excellent work throughout!
