Description: Dale Miller's attention to detail shines through this elegant, slim profile gent's folder. The slip joint design, premium 26C3 stainless steel blade, and ziricote wood handle scales make this a tremendous old school folder with modern performance.
The 3-1/4 inch blade and spring are formed from premium 26C3 carbon steel, with a Rockwell hardness of 64. This Uddeholm carbon steel is a high carbon, low alloy steel well suited to fine cutting. Sometimes called 'Spicy White', this very clean steel is relatively similar to Hitachi White. The blade was polished to a mirror finish and dipped in acid for a antique finish. The blade has light action and is easy to open and close. It centers well when closed. The high performing blade is thin for precise cuts. This also results in a folder that virtually disappears in your pocket. Because this knife is made from carbon steel, we recommend using camellia oil to avoid rust and oxidation.
Gently rounded handle scales are formed from ziricote (Cordia angiocarpa), harvested from the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. Miller cut these scales on a radial plane and incorated the natural line between the heartwood and sapwood to provide an elegant contrast and a dramatic effect. Both the bolsters and liners are 410 stainless steel. Fluting on the bolsters provides excellent grip.
The flush end means that the end of the tang, spring, and bolsters are all flush at the end of the knife. This adds an elegance to the appearance as compared to the more common design where the bolster extend beyond the ends of the tang and spring. This is an advanced technique and not seen on production knives.
At only 2 ounces, this knife is extremely lightweight and easy to carry!
Nice work throughout!
