Description: Visiting Journeyman Smith Neels van den Berg's workshop on a recent trip to South Africa with a real treat. His forge is pretty much in the middle of nowhere -- or at least if you kept driving down the road, that is clearly where it would end. The twisting road travels through veldt populated by zebra and other wild animals. Neels is well known for his war hammers, spike hawks, and highly refined knives.
This Damascus Stiletto shows his skills at their best. It was inspired by 17th century Italian and French stilettos. The triangular blade was forged to shape from a fine twist pattern damascus hand forged from carbon steels. Each of the sides is flat ground forming three edges and a very sharp tip. The blade moves into a octagonal mid section then culminates into a sculpted cylindrical base.
The handle is formed from antiqued bronze. It has been checkered by hand which improves grip and adds a classic look. The sculpted quillon and fluted end cap finish the handle. The stilletto is lightweight and comfortable to hold.
This is a classy and unique piece that is sure to be a centerpiece in your collection!
