Description: Work by Swedish knifemaker Kaj Embretsen has a meticulous precision not found anywhere else. Regrettably, it has become increasingly rare in the US and I was exceptionally pleased to recently have him offer us some of his knives.
This utility knife is exceptional. It could easily be a daily carry, but would also be comfortable in nearly any collection.
The blade is premium RWL-34 stainles steel. RWL-34 is a premium powder metallurgy cutlery steel manufactured by ERASTEEL in Söderfors, Sweden. Because it is made from rapidly solidified powders, the microstructure of the steel is much more uniform. This gives the steel much higher strength and resistance to cracks and chips. The blade is hollow ground for an easy to maintain edge. The Embretsen maker's mark is on the left ricasso. The blade features a hand rubbed satin finish.
The handle is made from a solid piece of presentation grade black ash burl wood. It is nicely contoured for a secure, comfortable grip. A gun blued mild steel ferrule separates the blade from handle.
The knife is accompanied by a traditional Swedish leather sheath.
Excellent work throughout!
