Description: Bill Moran is considered a legend among the knifemaking community and even considered the "father of modern damascus". He is credited for single-handedly reviving the lost art of forging damascus that has captivated knife enthusiasts and collectors worldwide! Bill founded the American Bladesmithing Society in 1976 and the American Bladesmith School in 1988 to continue teaching the craft of world class knifemaking. There are few knives that are more collectable than an original Bill Moran knife and we were excited to get one of his extremely rare forged carving sets. This set was kept in a private collection by the customer that bought it directly from Moran while visiting his shop. It has been meticulously cared for and has never been used. It is in great condition despite being over 50 years old!
This handmade one-of-a-kind carving set was made by Bill Moran in 1967 while his shop was in Lime Kiln, Maryland. Both the fork and carving knife are hand forged from carbon steel and feature a satin finish. The handles are made from carved rosewood, secured to the partial tang using brass pins. A stainless escutcheon was meticulously inlaid into the right side of the carving knife. The handles are finished with polished brass bolsters. Both the fork and knife measure 9 inches from tip to handle and 15 inches overall.
This is a chance to own a piece of knifemaking history that is sure to become a family heirloom.
