Description: I've always been a huge fan of knives by Canadian Mastersmith Christoph Deringer. Deringer is tremendously skilled at the forge and does nearly all of his finish work by hand with files. He specializes in hand forged integral guards. This exceptional utility knife has been in a private collection. It has been meticulously cared for and is in new condition. By all appearance, Mastersmith Deringer could have made this knife yesterday.
The blade was forged to shape from O1 tool steel. It features a meticulous hand rubbed satin finish. A differential heat treatment ensures a keen, long lasting edge with a supportive spine. Carving on the spine flows into the contoured integral guard.
The handle is formed from curly maple. Thin copper spacers bring out warm tones in the wood. A fileworked nickel silver spacer and pommel bring weight into the handle.
Excellent fit and finish throughout from a maker who's work is rarely found these days.
